Title, Subtitle, Series, and Contributors
What to do
Enter your book's title, subtitle (if any), series information, and every contributor (author, illustrator, editor, etc.) exactly as you want them to appear on the sales page.
Why it matters
This is the first information a reader sees. It also has to exactly match what's printed on your actual cover, since a mismatch between the listing and the physical book is one of the more common review holdups.
Step-by-step
- On the Details tab, enter your title in the Title field and, if you have one, your subtitle in the separate Subtitle field, don't run them together in one box.
- If this book is part of a series, fill in the Series field and the number in the series so KDP can group your books together on one series page.
- Add every contributor under Contributors: yourself as Author, plus anyone else involved (Illustrator, Editor, Foreword by, Translated by), each with the correct role selected.
- Double check spelling and punctuation against your actual cover file. Small mismatches (a missing colon before a subtitle, a different capitalization) can cause confusion for readers comparing the listing to the physical book.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Typing the subtitle into the Title field with a colon, instead of using the dedicated Subtitle field KDP provides.
- Leaving out a contributor (like a cover designer or illustrator) who is credited on the actual cover or title page.
- Entering series info inconsistently across multiple books in the same series (small differences in the series name will split them into separate series pages).

Troubleshooting
My book isn't part of a series. Do I need to fill in the Series fields?
No, leave them blank. Series fields are entirely optional and only matter if you're publishing more than one connected book.
