Pricing and Royalties on Draft2Digital

Your checklist saves in this browser on this device. It is not synced or backed up and can be erased if browser data is cleared. No account is needed for these tools.
For the specific figure Draft2Digital's own FAQ publishes for its commission, and how that compares to KDP's and IngramSpark's pricing models, see the Pricing and Royalties topic's Show me how section.

What to do

Set a list price for your ebook and understand how Draft2Digital earns its money, a percentage cut of each sale, rather than any upfront or setup fee.

Why it matters

Just like KDP and IngramSpark, it helps to know up front how the platform actually gets paid, so there are no surprises about how much of a sale is actually yours.

Troubleshooting

Does Draft2Digital charge anything upfront, like IngramSpark's title setup fee?

No. Creating an account and publishing a title through Draft2Digital is free, the same as KDP. D2D earns money only by taking a percentage of each sale, not through any signup or per-title charge.

Why does my estimated royalty look different for Apple Books versus Kobo at the same price?

Each retailer in Draft2Digital's network has its own underlying royalty terms with D2D, so the percentage that ultimately reaches you can vary slightly by store even at an identical list price. This is normal, check the per-retailer breakdown D2D shows you rather than expecting one flat number everywhere.
